Return & Resources
Dear friends,
It has been a while. Thank you for your patience.
I have been working. Quietly, consistently, and often behind the scenes. Not just on new projects, but also on myself: processing the world, tuning in to what is local and immediate, and trying to hold tight to what is constructive. Some of that labor has borne fruit in new long-term endeavors and projects, but today I wanted to share something more immediate and perhaps even more meaningful.
I have created a few basic lesson plans to help educators bring Queer Mythology into the classroom. This was always a dream of mine. I wrote the book with middle-grade readers in mind, and I envisioned it as a resource for humanities teachers—whether English, history, performing arts, or any discipline rooted in storytelling and culture. These lesson plans are intentionally rudimentary, meant to be springboards rather than scripts. But I hope they serve as inspiration and invitation.
The lesson plans live on my updated author website, just click “Queer Mythology” and scroll down. If you are an educator, I would be honored if you use them—and even more so if you tell me how. If you create your own lessons or find new connections I hadn’t thought of, I would love to hear about them. This is meant to be a living conversation. If you are not an educator, please consider sharing this newsletter with someone who is.
Below, I have included the table of contents from the book to get your gears turning.
On the events front: after a brief hiatus, I’m easing back into community spaces—intentionally and selectively. While I can’t yet announce a few partnerships in the works, I will be attending the Hudson Children’s Book Festival in New York on May 3rd. I’d love to see you there.
Thank you for sticking with me. I promise the next break won’t be so long. Keep in touch in the meantime.
In solidarity & story,
Guido
